13 year old Jesse
Roach Jr and Dad Jesse Sr went to Lake Berryessa Christmas Eve day, Dec. 24th, 2004.
Fishing was kind of slow
around the "Public" launch ramp. Around 9:00 am Dad told
Jesse Jr to "Reel up! Time to make a move." As Jesse Jr reeled in
the Brown Yamamoto Spider Grub that was tied to 12 lb. line, attached to his Shimano bait
casting rod and reel combo. This Big Berryessa Beauty grabbed Jesse's bait and ran off
with it. Jesse Jr set the hook hard and the battle was "ON". The fish made 3 or
4 good runs, but Jesse Jr never gave up. With the fish near the boat, Dad's excellent net
handling had the fish ready for a "Kodak" moment. Once on the scales the fish
weighed a hefty
6.71 pounds. Merry Christmas Jesse Jr.!
